Artwork Details

Title: Aurora

Fallen Angels series: Between the Divine and the Profane presents a series of 13 mixed media paintings that reimagine the figure of the angel, moving away from the traditional ethereal and benevolent image. Each work explores the tension between the celestial and the earthly, depicting winged beings that embody both divine purity and human passions.

These angels are not messengers of peace, but manifestations of contradiction: white wings and bodies oscillating between light and shadow. The mixed technique allows the fusion of textures and materials, incorporating organic elements that symbolize the internal struggle between spiritual elevation and the fall towards the profane.

Each piece invites the viewer to question the idea of divine perfection and recognize that even the purest symbols can harbor desire. The series seeks to confront the audience with the duality inherent to the human being, where the search for transcendence coexists with the limitations of the flesh.

These winged beings are neither guardians nor judges, they are mirrors of our own condition: fragmented, complex, beautiful and dark.

The model for Aurora bears a resemblance to Maria Angels Rigola Tor (UAB, Barcelona)
